Accomplishments

Important ARCA Accomplishments Include:

. Working to administer a $100,000 legislative appropriation for the Cleveland Circle Streetscape Plan for design improvements to Cleveland Circle.(ongoing)

. Working for the preservation, and now the disposition and reuse, of the Chestnut Hill Waterworks complex, including the reservoir and surrounding parkland.(ongoing)

. Secured an award for an historic, ornamental clock through the City's NICE program. Installed April, 2001.

. Initiated and supported the creation of The Aberdeen Historic District Study which resulted in the designation of Aberdeen as an Architectural Conservation District in Februay, 2002.

. Participated in the Allston-Brighton College Community Relations Task Force on both the prior and current Institutional Master Plans.(ongoing)

. Secured a $2,500 grant from the Boston College Community Fund (June, 2001) to establish ARCA's website on the Internet.

. Participated in the rezoning process for Allston-Brighton, and helped bring recognition to the importance of the Aberdeen neighborhood, which was designated the Aberdeen Neighborhood Design Overlay District.

. Lobbied for the reconstruction of streets and sidewalks in Aberdeen and coordinated this with City departments to ensure the successful comletion of the project.

. Initiated the plan for Boston College-funded weekend police patrols, which was adopted by the BC Master planning process.

. Initiated and established a resident permit parking program for the neighborhood.

. Supported the creation of the Aberdeen Overlook Park on Commonwealth Avenue.

. Initiated the establishment of the bi-monthly City of Boston street cleaning program.

. Initiated the Cleveland Circle flower planting beautification program.(past and present)

. Initiated the annual spring neighborhood clean-up with both Boston College and the City of Boston as sponsors and supporters.

. Participate in the Alliance for Boston Neighborhoods (ABN)

. Sponsorhip of Crime Watch programs.

. Initiated support for the creation of special City of Boston and Boston College clean-up crews during September 1st turnover of rental apartments.
